Operations
A GL form can follow an organization into the premises it occupies and the functions it actually runs. It is not a warehouse of every commercial exclusion a bureau committee ever drafted.
It is also not infinite. Expected or intended injury, contractual assumptions the form does not pick up, and the usual statutory overlays still apply. Read the issued wording.
Working the form
Named insureds and those scheduled or defined in the form. Additional insureds, if any, are endorsed — they are not assumed.
The Company controls defense as the policy provides. Whether defense costs sit inside or outside the limit is a manuscript choice, not a slogan.
Workers’ compensation, professional liability, and most pollution are generally outside a GL form. If those risks are written at all, they are written elsewhere, on other paper.
Certificates of insurance are evidence of a policy in force. They do not amend it. Requests from counterparties of an insured may be made through this site.
Claims & certificates
Prompt notice under a GL form is not courtesy — it is a condition. Certificates for counterparties of an insured may be requested here.
